The Ministry of Economy’s Digital Window (Ventanilla Única de Comercio Exterior Mexicano or VUCEM) is the means through which it is possible to send electronic information to carry out foreign trade procedures, simplifying management processes. Last Friday, May 18, 2023 , the "Decree amending and adding the decree establishing the Ministry of Economy’s Digital Window", was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, in which, among other things, the decentralized administrative units and bodies responsible for procedures related to the import, export and transit of goods are recognized as the competent authority in matters of foreign trade, adding to the list of such authorities: the National Customs Agency of Mexico (Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de México), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural), the Ministry of Public Education (Secretaría de Educación Pública), the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social or STPS).
The STPS is included since it is responsible for verifying that the goods subject to foreign trade have been processed legally and not through forced and/or child labor.
